Dog bites on airplane send passenger to hospital

On Behalf of | Jun 12, 2017 | Dog Bites

Dogs serve several purposes in this country. While many people in Illinois have a dog as a pet, some are used as service animals or to help with law enforcement matters. Unfortunately, one man was hospitalized following an incident in another state that resulted in injuries caused by dog bites.

The incident is said to have occurred as a Delta Air Lines flight was boarding. According to reports, a current member of the U.S. military was traveling with a dog described as a “support dog.” The dog allegedly attacked another passenger as the service member and dog took their seat next to him.

The victim is said to have suffered several bites to his face and was transported to the hospital. Another passenger on the plane describes the shouts heard during the alleged attack and said that the victim’s shirt and face were covered with blood. The service member was allowed to fly on a different flight with his dog in a kennel.

The injuries suffered as a result of dog bites can have serious consequences, often requiring extensive medical treatment, including plastic surgery. Unfortunately, many people will feel the emotional impact of such an attack for the rest of their lives. In order to ensure that these victims receive the care they need to treat both the physical and emotional consequences of their injuries, many in Illinois choose to file a personal injury lawsuit. A successfully presented case could result in an award of damages that will help victims cope with these consequences.
