Drivers are taught to drive defensively and to obey traffic laws. While doing so may go a long way toward avoiding motor vehicle accidents, even the safest of Illinois drivers is sometimes unable to completely avoid the negligent actions of others. Unfortunately, a family is now coming to terms with the unexpected death of a loved following a recent crash.
The incident happened one morning on a day in late November. According to reports, a 51-year-old male was headed north in a pickup truck on an Illinois interstate. Unfortunately, Illinois State Police say that the truck was struck in the rear by a speeding vehicle.
Reports indicate that the driver of the pickup truck died at the scene of the accident approximately an hour after the collision happened. His passenger was transported to the hospital but is expected to survive. Charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the second vehicle -- who apparently was not injured in the collision -- believed to have been involved in the accident.
The loss of a loved one is never easy, but it may be especially difficult for those whose loss is the result of a preventable accident. In addition to their grief, many families who have lost a loved one in such a manner have also found themselves struggling financially. As a result, some victims in Illinois who lose loved ones in motor vehicle accidents choose to seek recompense through the civil court system. While a financial award will likely do little to lessen their grief, it will ensure that they are able to reduce some of the stress associated with their ability to pay their bills.
