Because many people in Illinois and across the country spend a significant amount of time behind the wheel, driving can often become routine, resulting in complacent drivers. However, due to the size of vehicles and the speed at which they travel, drivers must be conscious of the potential for motor vehicle accidents and the harm they can cause at all times. Unfortunately, a man and woman recently lost their lives in an accident.
Police reports indicate that the accident happened during the early morning hours of a day in August. The two victims, a 49-year-old male driver and his 31-year-old female passenger, were traveling in a van. Unfortunately, police say a car driven by a 21-year-old man sideswiped them.
Apparently as a result of the contact, the van left the road and overturned. Both occupants were ejected and died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. It is unclear if the other driver was injured. Police say that the road was closed for over five hours; the traffic crash reconstruction unit of the Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
No family is ever prepared for the news that their loved one was killed in a preventable car accident. Unfortunately, the family of these victims must cope with the death of two of their loved ones at the same time. Because lost wages and funeral expenses are difficult to manage, many who lose loved ones in motor vehicle accidents in Illinois choose to seek damages in a civil court. If negligence can be proved, they could receive a monetary award to help them with the financial ramifications of their tragic loss.
